A company called "NFI Iowa" last Friday broke ground for a new manufacturing facility to be constructed here in Osage. NFI Iowa is a partnership between Nutr-e Food Innovation (NFI) of Collierville, Tennessee and Northern Iowa Grain Processing of Riceville.The future facility will process oilseeds and grains for the health food and cosmetic industries from its new location at 603 N. 3rd Street, across the street from Fox River Mills. The project is expected to bring eight new jobs to the community. Construction on the 6,500 square foot facility will begin this week.Officials from the city of Osage, the Osage Development Corporation and Mitchell County Economic Development hosted the ceremony last Friday morning, complete with shovels and large drawings of the future facility. Also on hand were elected officials from Mitchell County, as well as Bill Denner from CUSB bank, the institution that is helping to finance the new venture.Representing the new venture at the groundbreaking were Rich Barton of Collierville, TN and Joel Yorgey of Riceville, who both spoke of how impressed they were by the community."We're excited to build here in Osage," said Yorgey, who is also the president of Northern Iowa Grain Processors in Riceville.
