Its only natural. If you stick around the college football coaching business long enough, you will eventually match up with one of your former schools. Thats the case Saturday for Ellis Johnson and Charlie Harbison, both current Mississippi State assistants and formerly on the staff at Gardner-Webb. Johnson, now in his 31st year of coaching and on his eighth college staff, was the Runnin Bulldogs head coach in 1983. Harbison, also a player at Crest High, played and coached at Gardner-Webb in the 1980s. Gardner-Webb is a special place because it gave me an opportunity to get an education in a Christian atmosphere at a family-oriented school, said Harbison, a defensive back during his playing days and now MSUs safeties coach. A lot of people dont realize how special that place is until they leave there.
